Super Bowl Twitter Coverage

IMG_2773  I dropped by the Super Bowl Web Site, and saw that they're using Twitter this year to cover the Super Bowl.

So, if you have a Twitter account, just follow @SuperBowl, or you can visit SuperBowl's Twitter Web Page.

Now, the question is, can Twitter handle the load? I was pretty certain that Twitter was going to be going crazy with people tweeting all game long, but this is going to make it even worse. Can the system handle it? I guess we'll just have to find out.

Of course, you can find me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/port16, and Art is at http://twitter.com/art_

Not too shabby

I'll have to say that Twitter did really well. I could see that lots and lots of people were using it, but as far as I can tell, the service kept running. I did hear some complaints about slow API calls, but they were few and far between, and I didn't notice any issues.

The biggest problem I had was that I was using my DVR, and there was a couple of instances where I paused it and fell behind the live game. People on Twitter were sending tweets about what was going on in the game at that particular moment, so there were a few spots where I already knew what was going to happen.

It was really interesting watching the game with Twitter running, almost like I had all of those people right there in my living room.
