A conversation about eating at work.

This is part of an IM conversation I had with Mike today about eating at the office:

Some thoughts on show 16.

As mentioned in the podcast, I'll be taking over production of the podcast from this point forward.

Even though I produced one in the past, this just wasn't the same. Now that I have this responsibility, I wanted to give it my own 'flavor'. I worked at it for a good long time, but I just couldn't get the results I wanted. The reason is mostly because I'm not familiar with the tools we use to put the show together. Let me rephrase that. I know how to use them on a basic level, but I'm not familiar with all of their capabilities.

This weeks podcast will be a little late.

As mentioned before, I'm taking over the podcast production duties from Mike, and he's going to be doing the web site stuff. So from now on, I'll be doing all the sound editing and everything else involved with getting the podcast together for your listening enjoyment.

However, I've evidently forgotten everything I learned from producing Show 12. I'm having no end of trouble getting things together, and now it's 2:30am on Wednesday morning and it's still not finished.

Use OpenDNS for safer browsing.

image I've talked about OpenDNS in the past, but I just wanted to mention it again in light of recent DNS vulner

Is cuil a Google-buster? No.

image There's a new kid on the search block, and it's pretty cool, er, I mean "cuil".

TR2N is coming.

Yes. We've all heard the rumors. A sequel to perhaps the geekiest movie ever is coming, but so far it's been only that: A rumor.

Now we have a trailer. It's a small, crappy, bootleg trailer that looks like it was taken with a cell phone, but it's SOMETHING.

The TR2N IMDB page doesn't have any information about this film, other than a 2010 release date. Does anyone else have any information about it?

Sysadmin appreciation day.

image The system admin is often the most overlooked person in a company, until there's email trouble, of course. When things go wrong everybody starts screaming for help. But when things are running smoothly, the system admin is largely ignored. Nobody notices when everything is as it should be.

Amarok is coming to Windows.

In the podcast last week, I mentioned I've been spending a lot more time in Linux. My TV tuner doesn't work in Linux, so when I'm logged in I usually listen to some music instead. My music player of choice for the KDE desktop is Amarok.

Amarok is very, very nice. You can listen to just about anything under the sun with it, including podcasts, shoutcast streams, album art, lyrics, and all kinds of plugin goodness.

9 out of 10 people agree: Windows Vista beats Windows Vista in blind taste tests.

Boy, Microsoft pulled a fast one!

Looking for ways to combat Apple's anti-Vista ads, Bill Veghte, chief of Microsoft's Windows unit, came up with the Mojave campaign.

He showed Microsoft's newest operating system, code named "Mojave", to several "Vista haters" and filmed their reactions. Turns out, more than 90% of them loved the new operating system.

So what is Mojave? Why, it's.................................... Vista. Of course.
